Situated in Stambridge and backing onto Ballards Gore golf course, The Shepherd & Dog has established itself as one of the best pubs around and was awarded CAMRA country pub of the year 2002, CAMRA Pub of The Year 2004 & CAMRA Country Pub of The Year 2006 for the S.E.Essex Region. Proprietor Kim is a member of the British Institute of Inn Keeping and is justly proud of the reputation she has built up.
The pub is popular with all ages, from families (our policy is children 12 years and over in the restaurant only), to beer-lovers who can sample our guest beers (there are always ten cask ales on the go which change weekly), to diners who have an extensive choice of meals (see our food page). Walking, cycling and coach groups are always welcomed.
